Pick Your Pride : Adidas Lgbt Collection}

Submitted by: Vikram KR

American NBA Great Michael Jordan is famously quoted as saying, Its not about the shoes. Its what you do with them. Shoe lovers out there have a great-many things to rejoice about, and if youre pro-LGBT, its even better. Adidas has recently introduced three rainbow-coloured hues of its shoes for this LGBT Pride Month.

The Superstar, the Adilette Slide and the Stan Smith are three of its iconic models that are rebranded for this Pride Month. The flag of the LGBT that represents a symbol of equality and inclusiveness that signifies the diversity of the LGBT community is the main source of inspiration for their refreshingly unique designs.

In 2013, we saw that Nike had its own campaign with the name #BeTrue that had rainbow-inspired designs and the proceeds from the event reached the LGBT Sports Coalition community. Adidas has also sponsored an event for Portland Monthly called Flare, which is a Pride event that took place on June 11.

Adidas has recently introduced the Pride pack, showcasing its solidarity with the LGBT (Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community for being in the vulnerable situation in the past couple of months, starting from the Orlando incidents. The Pride pack essentially throws a multitude of colours splashed upon together that indicates the versatility of a rainbow-with all its colours in its full glory.

Let us look at the unique features of the new collection that makes it eye-candy for all of us who love eccentric and sensational design patterns around us:

1. The Heel and the insoles :

The shoes, which come in a bright blue box and as you unbox these bad boys, you cant help getting a shock: one of the good kind. The shoes insoles are coloured differently and the pair looks contrastingly indifferent to every other pair you see out in the world. The heel of this model is quite prominent and feels strongly supporting as you walk with ease. The shoe makes a great pick for your casual mood.

2. The Welt and the colours :

The welt and the heels connect so well and they look incredibly unique. The plethora of colours extend well below and the sprayed look of a mix of colours give a funky, trendy outlook and makes all the young guys love it in first sight. Bright hues of yellow and orange together with neutral, interwoven bands of violet and green replaces the old-style classic of shiny back stripes in sneakers.

3. The Shell-toe :

The Shell-toe of the sneaker model remains the same and made from rubber following suit with its historic design and also resembles the pattern we often find among the shells.

One of the comments we often receive for the Adidas LGBT shoe collection is that once it is worn, the heel feels so light that it almost feels like the shoes are too loose for your feet. Depending upon the person you ask, this could be either the ultimate factor for comfort or the only flaw. So buy Adidas superstar shoes now!

About the Author: Sneakers are an essential to make your own fashion statement out there. So

Miami of Ohio and Boston College advance to 2010 NCAA men’s ice hockey Frozen Four

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Obviously it was an unbelievable feeling

Miami of Ohio beat the Michigan Wolverines 3–2 at the finals of the NCAA Midwest regional ice hockey tournament Sunday night at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Miami sophomore forward Alden Hirschfeld scored at 1:54 into the second overtime when his shot from the top of the left face off circle deflected into the goal off the skate of the Michigan goaltender Shawn Hunwick.

Pat Cannone led the scoring with two power play goals for Miami during regulation. It looked as though Michigan had won the game in the first overtime when Michigan’s forward Kevin Lynch appeared to score. Unfortunately for Michigan the referee blew the whistle calling a penalty just before the puck went in the net. The Miami goaltender Connor Knapp who made 53 saves in the game was named the most outstanding player of the midwest regional tournament.

This was the first multiple overtime game for the Miami of Ohio RedHawks in their 23 years. Miami will be going to the Frozen Four for the second straight year.

It was great to see all those hats on the ice

The Boston College Eagles advanced to the Frozen Four in a shoot out with the Yale Bulldogs. BC defeated Yale 9–7 last night at the finals of the NorthEast regionals in front of 6,054 fans at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

BC forward Cam Atkinson had a hat trick and an assist. Mark Arcobello of Yale also had a hat trick. In an attempt to find a way to stop the Eagles scoring Yale played three different goalies during the game. The sixteen total goals is a NCAA record for a regional tournament game. The previous record was thirteen.

This will be the 22nd time that Boston College has made it to the Frozen Four, it is the ninth for coach Jerry York and their third trip in the past four seasons. BC will face Miami of Ohio in the semifinals on April 8 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Great Parties Are Ez With Icebreaker Games And Lively Party Games}

Submitted by: Elizabeth Chastain

The most exciting part about planning a birthday party for kids is usually the games. After all it is the games that help get kids involved in the festivities, and introduces strangers to each other. Choosing some wonderful and imaginative icebreaker games will make sure that your party is truly unforgettable.

PINATA

A pinata is one of those timeless classics that is also one of the best icebreaker games. This activity makes it possible for all of your guests to be winners no matter who successfully breaks the treat filled container.

You start by selecting a pinata (or making one yourself) that fits the theme of the party. Some people do appreciate the interest that a totally unexpected piata shape can add to the festivities.

Whichever route you decide to go, just make sure that you stuff it with some real treasures. Fill the piata with all sorts of goodies, such as candies, prizes, even money! Hey, collecting and eating lots of sweets can be an icebreaker game, right?

Hang the pinata from a tree limb outside if possible. Then you can give your guests each a turn at trying to swat the swinging treasure chest. Blindfolds and spinning the guests in a circle a few times makes contacting the piata with a stick or bat a little more challenging. This also will get your guests laughing and talking as they watch the fun unfold in front of their eyes. Even the shyest individuals love to participate in this type of party game.

PIN THE TAIL ON THE DONKEY

Pin the tail on the donkey is another of the classic icebreaker games for parties that is still popular. Hang a picture of a tailless donkey on the wall, and blindfold each contestant after giving them a “tail” with tape attached.

Spin the individual around a few times, stopping them in the vicinity of the picture and allow them to take a turn trying to pin the tail in the right location on the donkey. The game is won by judging who gets the donkey’s tail closest to the correct spot.

You do not have to settle for this version however, party games were meant to evolve and change. It is easy to create a similar party game where you pin apples on a tree branch, or a wart on the witch’s nose. You can even let your guests take turns trying to attach ears, eyes and saddles to an animal character that you have hung on the wall.

MUSICAL CHAIRS

Musical chairs has been topping the list of best party style icebreaker games for many years. Although it may take a few rounds of this game to get the shyest individuals to relax, musical chairs is an activity that will never fail to get your guests into a party mood.

GRAPEVINE

Try some of the other party games and icebreakers like Grapevine where you select teams of 3 or more individuals. Then the goal is for you to tell the first person in the group a short story, song or poem. They in turn must repeat it to the person on their right without any errors. That person will then pass the message along. You wait and let the last person in the group recite the message and the winner is the team that gets the message passed along with either no errors, or the fewest errors.

Winter storms hammer Texas, fatalities reported

Friday, February 19, 2021

A series of winter blasts have struck the US state of Texas in recent days, leaving at least ten people dead in the aftermath. On Wednesday, the second wave of the storms impacted utilities and water systems, with cities asking citizens to conserve water usage. Reports early Wednesday indicated more than two and a half million homes and businesses were without power. Texas is the only one of the 48 contiguous US states with its own separate power grid.

One media source indicated carbon monoxide poisoning killed a mother and her child in the city of Houston. A house fire killed a woman and three children in the city of Sugar Land. The storm has impacted shipments of COVID-19 vaccine, according to at least one report. Citizens were asked to conserve usage of electricity where possible. Reports from the city of Tyler indicate roads were nearly impassible on Monday and Tuesday due to ice and snow.

Earlier in the month, winter conditions contributed to a massive vehicle pile up in the city of Fort Worth, taking the lives of at least five people. Some victims were trapped in their vehicles for hours, awaiting rescue. During a press briefing, an emergency services official said this was a once-in-a-lifetime event.

New Zealand delays emissions trading scheme

Monday, November 17, 2008

New Zealand’s incoming government will delay the implementation of the country’s emissions trading scheme (ETS) pending a full inquiry into climate change.

The decision was revealed in the National Party‘s confidence and supply agreement with the ACT Party. The agreement commits National to a review of climate change policy by a special select committee of Parliament.

The review will include the emissions trading scheme and possible alternatives to it, as well as “hear[ing] competing views on the scientific aspects of climate change” and considering whether responding to climate change is economically worthwhile. Implementation of the ETS would be delayed until the review is complete — a process expected to take at least a year.

The ETS requires companies emitting greenhouse gases to cover their emissions with permits. The legislation was passed on September 10, 2008, and provides for a phased implementation, with forestry entering the scheme immediately, industrial and energy sector emissions entering in 2010, and transport fuels in 2011.

The National Party won a victory over the Labour Party in last week’s elections, and has formed a new government cabinet, led by prime minister-elect John Key.

Obama’s choice for Treasury issues warning on China

Friday, January 23, 2009

Timothy F. Geithner, Barack Obama’s nominee for Secretary of the Treasury, had his confirmation hearing on Thursday in the United States Senate. If confirmed he will succeed Henry Paulson in this position, which is analogous to the finance minister in other nations.

During Geithner’s testimony in the Senate, he said that the Obama administration believes China is “manipulating” its currency. The New York Times says this suggests a confrontational stance toward China on trade issues.

“President Obama backed by the conclusions of a broad range of economists believes that China is manipulating its currency,” Geithner said in his written responses to the Senate.

In his spoken response, Geithner said he would “use aggressively all diplomatic avenues open to him to seek change in China’s currency practices.”

“The signal this sends is not good [for China-US relations]”, said Charles W. Freeman, a fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and former head trade negotiator for China at the Office of the United States Trade Representative. “It opens a Pandora’s box. We need the Chinese to hold onto their Treasury and agency debt.”

China “will be more than annoyed — they don’t like being singled out, and they don’t like countries explicitly criticizing them for the way they run their economy,” said Nicholas Lardy of the Peterson Institute for International Economics.

Bloomberg L.P. said that US treasury securities dropped in value following Geithner’s statements.

“It has to be done very carefully,” said Frank Vargo, VP at the National Association of Manufacturers. “You know the world has changed a lot with the financial crisis and China has a lot in U.S. Treasuries. This needs to be done in a cooperative, not a confrontational, way.”

“But…we all know the Chinese currency is deliberately undervalued,” Vargo added.

Geithner was also questioned about taxes he failed to pay on income earned while working for the International Monetary Fund. However, this issue was largely forgiven by the senators.

Senator Orrin Hatch said he was certain Geithner was “a person of great integrity, even though he’s made these mistakes.”

Senator John Cornyn said he was “willing to give Mr. Geithner the benefit of the doubt” on his tax mistakes.

Senator Jon Kyl was not as forgiving on the tax issue. “He [Geithner] has not been as candid with me or the committee as I think he should have been,” Kyl said.

US law requires the Treasury to list countries that manipulate their currency. Former Secretary Paulson cited the 21% appreciation of the yuan since July 2005 as evidence that China was not manipulating the exchange rate, and kept China off the list.

Accounting Services For Small Businesses In Calgary

Submitted by: Johnathan Cunnings

Businesses, irrespective of size, can never do away with accounting. Truth be told, it is an indispensable tool in measuring how far the business has achieved and is essential in pursuing growth and success. Having a reliable accounting system is a must, as one can get lost in the ebb and flow of the accounting cycle. If your people can do this for you, there s no worry then. However, if you lack manpower to handle this concern, avail of the various Calgary accounting services for small business.

To give you an overview of what to expect from any accounting service provider, take time to read through the benefits you ought to receive from your investment. The list is not conclusive, but nevertheless reflective of the things you must consider right before deciding which firm to hire.

a.As a fundamental rule, a thorough understanding of the prevailing accounting standards as well as other applicable federal and provincial laws must be manifested in any accounting firm of your choice. You can get a word from people you rely upon and gather feedback from former clients about the quality and extent of services. You may choose to directly ask them in order to evaluate information.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR4Rq4-P7o8[/youtube]

b.Accounting services must be exclusively small-business-oriented. While no contradiction can be raised on huge accounting firms handling small businesses, the ideal Calgary accounting services for small business must be as much as possible exclusive for such orientation. In this way, you are confident that you get the most from what you pay for. Attention and time are both critical factors; most effective service providers are those oriented for small businesses.

c.The manner of operation is very important. Say, how a certain firm keeps track of your documents and how it places mechanisms to ensure security and confidentiality matters. You know that proper organization to ensure completeness of records is imperative. Look for these things when interviewing prospects.

d.Compliance is strictly done within set deadlines. You don t want to make your spending suffer by a firm that neglects time frames. Your firm choice must be government-compliant, especially that the authority requires such.

e.How the firm produces your needed reports is another crucial thing. Given all the supporting documents, what it does and how it proceeds with the task with utmost care, diligence and accuracy is more important than the report itself. Discrepancies are a no-no as no one needs that mediocre line of thought.

Among the top choices as to accounting services is Padgett Business Services. It may just be a network of small office owners, but its solid experience for over four decades speaks well of trust and confidence among small businesses. It understands well the process of growth, thus, is a perfect partner in aiming for success.

There are other existing firms that cater to the Calgary jurisdiction. Bear in mind to choose well, especially that Calgary accounting services for small business can take a lot of forms. More importantly, the different rates carried by these offering firms must instigate further investigation as quality might be compromised in the actual setup. It all boils down to how you weigh things.
